  1. GENERAL STUFF

  3. Eudora is an Internet-compatible mailer for Macintoshes. It can be used with 
  4. MacTCP, the Communications Toolbox, or any of the UUCP implementations for 
  5. the Mac. Eudora is free.

  8. TRANSLITERATION IN EUDORA 
  9.  
  10. Eudora has a primitive transliteration facility. It can replace any one 8 
  11. bit character with any other 8-bit character, when sending mail, receiving 
  12. mail, or displaying a message. This is primarily of interest to people who 
  13. communicate in languages other than English; if you don't, read no further. 
  14.  
  15. Here's the bottom line. Put the EudoraTables document in your Preferences 
  16. folder (system folder, for you 6'ers). Start Eudora. Open a message from 
  17. your in box. Hold down the shift key, and press on the blank popup in the 
  18. icon bar. Choose the appropriate country code from the menu. Now, choose 
  19. New... from the Message menu. Again, hold down the shift key and choose the 
  20. appropriate country code from the menu. All done.

  24. Please send mail to eudora-info@qualcomm.com to get the latest information 
  25. about Eudora, including lists of files currently available on the ftp site. 
  26. Someday, you may even be able to get Eudora files this way; but not yet.

  29. FUTURE PLANS 
  30.  
  31. Eudora version 2.0 will have support for MIME (the new internet standard 
  32. that allows for pictures, sound, rich text, national character sets and file 
  33. transfer in mail, all in a standard way), AppleEvents (so that Eudora can be 
  34. used by other programs who want to send mail), and possibly a remote mailbox 
  35. protocol like IMAP or PCMail. Eudora 2.0 will be able to use pattern 
  36. matching and a rules database for automated sorting, filing, and handling of 
  37. mail. I'll also be keeping an eye on OCE developments. I have no estimate 
  38. for a release date for Eudora 2.0.
